News Coordination meeting with Andorra and Monaco on the Association Agreement with the EU 15 October 2021

A coordination meeting between the delegations of Andorra, Monaco and San Marino has been held today at the Kursaal Congress Centre in view of the forthcoming negotiating sessions for an Association Agreement with the European Union.

This meeting has provided an opportunity to take stock of the respective progress of negotiations in the recent past, which has necessarily been affected by the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The delegations have discussed the main issues of the ongoing negotiations and the most sensitive aspects, with a view to discussing them when the in-person and multilateral negotiating sessions resume.

The three delegations have also considered the possibility of taking joint initiatives during negotiations and a possible extension of opportunities for cooperation with member countries.

"This meeting has been an occasion to meet again in trilateral format after several months and to take stock of the situation regarding the negotiations" said Minister Luca Beccari. "The works have focused on the main issues for San Marino: access to the EU market for banking and financial services, establishment of persons and movement of workers. We are confident that we will soon be able to resume discussions on these issues also with the EU delegation, in order to find a mutually satisfactory solution."

The delegations of the three States have also agreed on the willingness to use this format, on a rotating basis, also in the coming months.
