News Last day of San Marino’s participation in the 28th OSCE Ministerial Council 03 December 2021

The Minister of Foreign Affairs Luca Beccari has been in Stockholm since Wednesday to attend the 28th OSCE Ministerial Council. San Marino Ambassador to the OSCE Elena Molaroni and some diplomatic officials have accompanied the Minister in this fruitful mission.

During today's final day of works, San Marino has supported the Statement on Small Arms, the Statement on Security Sector Governance and Reform and the EU's closing address at the plenary session.

During the morning, Minister Beccari had a fruitful and friendly bilateral meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro Djordje Radulovic. This meeting was an opportunity for both countries to discuss more in detail the dynamics of cooperation within the EUSAIR framework, since San Marino is currently completing the procedures to join EUSAIR. More generally, collaboration within the International Organisations was discussed, considering that San Marino and Montenegro are both small-sized States and are located in a similar area.

The delegations also discussed extensively the consolidation of the existing bilateral relations and proposed a possible Memorandum of Understanding aimed at strengthening consultations on ongoing and future collaborations and at making them regular.

Both Parties also expressed their willingness to cooperate in the economic and financial fields, including through an agreement for the elimination of double taxation (DTA), as well as in the field of tourism. They also discussed the possibility of an official visit at the level of Heads of State and Foreign Ministers, to be organised in the first quarter of 2022.
